‘comme un enfant’ - yelle
skdljfskldj. this song makes me so happy. i always love the background dancers in yelle’s video because they are all french and really attractive. she’s so damn funky.
safari disco club is such a great record.
in english, ‘comme un enfant’ means ‘like a kid’.
“too close” - alex clare
i heard this song on a bing commercial. i kind of hate bing, but i kind of like this song.
i am not sure about it, though. i genuinely like it, but there’s something keeping me back, however, and i cannot figure out what this reservation is.
he’s basically dubstep with soul. as i type that description, i feel more than a little trite. but in fact, it’s considerably new and untouched niche.
within the dubstep and soul niches that usually operate independent of each other, exists alex clare - effectively mixing the two in a way that is almost too good. maybe i’m just trying to not get my hopes up too much before he crosses into the mainstream waters that is dubstep on college campuses everywhere. oh, did i mention he’s being produced by diplo? (that’s a plus in my book)
alex clare’s new slogan should be “so good, it’s slightly off-putting”
songs that make you feel like a badass part II
“sutphin boulevard” by blood orange
i can’t tell you how many times i’ve been in my car with the windows down driving through my college campus blasting this song and feeling like a total badass.
it’s repetitive beat and flowing breakdowns make you want more and more. blood orange just has such a unique sound, and the video is inherently ‘unique’.
the absolutely sick and sultry vocals make you feel like you’re in some sort sexy club situation back in the 80’s and there’s a live singer in drag or something.
it’s december, you guys. it has been for like 14 days - wow neato.
with december, comes many a top music of the year list.
i am not able to go through all of the amazing music i’ve listened to this year in a timely fashion, nor am i able to put them in a list of descending importance. i never agree with other website’s lists, so i can only assume no one would agree with mine.
and i like it when people agree with me.
so i’m going the easy/lazy/my way with this top music list business.
i’ve probably posted this video a good hundred times already, but i don’t care. it’s a fan-made video for one of my favorite songs of the year.
the song is called “Lofticries” and it’s by a breakout artist named Purity Ring. they came onto the blogosphere this summer and their song “Ungirthed” made absolute waves. “Lofticries” was the b-side to this two-song release and it is by far one of my favorite songs of the year.
Purity Ring will be coming to Atlanta on March 19th at the Masquerade with Neon Indian and I’ll be there if you’d like to say hi.
excuse me while i get lost. i love french synth pop so much. Tellier is so underrated.
Sébastien Tellier - “Roche”
grimes “vanessa”
i love her voice
Otis - Kanye West and Jay Z ft Otis Redding.
AND FEATURING AZIZ FUCKING ANSARI, AMERICA!
‘our deal’ by Best Coast. directed by Drew Barrymoore.
featuring
- Chloe Moretz (Hit Girl from Kick-Ass)
- Donald Glover (Troy from “Community”)
- Tyler Posey (the teen wolf from “Teen Wolf”)
- Miranda Cosgrove (iCarly from “iCarly”)
- Alia Shawkat (Maeby Fünke from “Arrested Development”)
pretty much the best fucking music video ever fucking made
it’s so sad. but so great.
tiga - “shoes”
what a gem of a song. a strange, unexplainable gem.
but no really, why hasn’t the gay world latched onto Tiga?
he’s attractive

his music is funky
you can dance to it
he’s hilarious
and he’s been around for years but for some reason, he just hasn’t captured the attention of the gay community like he should have.
strange.
